I try to find joy in everything I do (Here’s looking at you, Marie Kondo) but sometimes this is hard. Overworked, underpaid, underappreciated, etc. the list goes on and on. Times like this, I try to reflect on the little things. This time, they’re all airport/airplane related.
There are certain things that bring me joy that others would raise their noses to or even laugh at me for. One thing is that feeling when you touch down in an airplane- yes, I’m going to Atlanta again. I love the feeling of hitting the ground because it’s bumpy but safe at the same time. You know you made it to your destination but you’re still being bumped around like a pinball. It’s a juxtaposition thing.
Another thing is seeing people in uniform at an airport. I love a man in uniform, but what I love more is seeing them in an airport. They have a sense of duty and pride about them, while also looking scared completely shitless at the same time. You can tell that they are honored to serve but also have a “what did I get myself into” look. I just like to observe people.
I could bore you all day on this, but I’ll only do three things. This third item is something I can’t see but I would love to one day. It’s the amount of planning and scheduling that goes into planning flight patterns and scheduling flights. Most people wouldn’t care but I would love to see what this process looks like and meet the people who do it.
I’ll most likely talk more about these quirks in the future. After all, the purpose of this “blog” is two fold. Talk about interesting stuff and act as a journal.
