I just finished A Series of Unfortunate Events season 3 and I can’t look away.
This series was such a fun way to look back on my childhood. I read all of the books at least 3 times. When I heard they were making a Netflix series, I was so excited.
I enjoyed the Jim Carrey movie, but always hated that A. it was a movie and B. that it only touched on the first three books. But I’m not here to talk about the movie…
The Netflix show was wonderful. I’ve seen every episode and although I still have to go back and rewatch the entire thing all the way through, I loved every minute. It was exactly how I pictured it would look in the books.
Violet Baudelaire has always been one of my favorite characters and Malina Weissman did an excellent job portraying her. The whole cast did. NPH was phenomenal and made me feel for Olaf. Patrick Warburton, in all honesty, might’ve been my favorite character. He played Mr. Snicket so well.
Story-wise, I’ve adored the books and their sophisticated use of the English language. I fell in love with English while reading these books when I was little. The part that I loved the most, was that this was all from Lemony Snicket’s perspective and that he would frequently “break the fourth wall” and address the reader directly. And the fact that we never clearly understand what happens to the Baudelaires is a testament to his writing and dedication to the story. Honestly, I could write about ASOUE forever.
All in all, it was like watching the books come to life and that was the best part.
