Waiting Game

It’s about halfway through March and I’m going a little crazy.

I applied to some doctoral programs back in December and the waiting game is killing me. I applied to six schools because that’s all I could afford, applications are expensive, and I’m still waiting to hear from three of them. Unfortunately, I was rejected from my dream school, The University of Georgia in Athens as well as my dream program, Moving Image studies at Georgia State. Ohio State also rejected me. I am waiting to hear back from UCLA, USC and NYU. Fingers crossed.

Getting rejected hurts a lot. If you know me, you know I love Georgia and this was the perfect opportunity to move down south while pursuing a doctorate. Getting a Ph.D. has been something I’ve wanted ever since I was little. To think I might not be good enough is scary. When you work so hard for something, to get told “no” stings.

My plan A is to get accepted into a doctoral program and move to a new city with my man. The dream is for us both to find careers in what we love. Me with writing and him in digital marketing focusing on social media. I want us to be happy.

No one wants to deviate from their plan A. I am very afraid I may have too.
