This isn’t going to be a profound post by any means, I just need a minute to talk about how much I dislike the cold weather.
Snow is pretty and all and it’s wonderful for Christmas, but that’s about it. It’s wet, cold and slippery. Plus, it heightens my anxiety when it comes to safety. My father drives on 76 daily to get to work and I make him text me so that I he got there ok. Same with my boyfriend, although that’s usually under different circumstances. Regardless, this weather drives me nuts.
I also feel for the animals that are left out in this mess. Not just the dogs and horses, but also the squirrels and turkeys and deer. I came across a cat, who I lovingly called Kitty Kat. He was so sweet and I believe someone dropped him off in the lot next to my house because he was friendly and really tried to make his way indoors. I called around and put out notices everywhere but no one seemed to know who owned him (which is another reason why I think he was dropped off on purpose)…
We fed him for a couple days and then caught him to get tested and fixed. He was already neutered, which was good, and he tested negative which was fantastic. Falcon Animal Rescue ended up being wonderful and taking him in.
As far as I know, he’s going great there, but I’m just happy that he’s out of the cold and doesn’t have to fight for food. I’m going to visit him this week to see how he’s doing.
You don’t understand how much anxiety winter causes me to have. It’s ridiculous. It doesn’t help that the temps are going to dip into the negatives this week either! Stay warm and bring your pets inside!!!
