Let’s Make a Movie

Hey everyone!

I know it’s been a while but life likes to catch up with me. Let’s see, I went to band camp, vacationed in Los Angeles and oh yeah, I made a movie!

Back in April, I was inspired to make a movie. So I did. I wrote up a super short script and shot it in a total of 14 hours. The film is titled Why I Stay and focuses on Blair and Jack and how sometimes depression overshadows the people we love. This was probably the best and worst time ever.

It was an amazing experience in that I wrote a script and directed my first film. Diving head first into this project was exhilarating. I loved every minute of this.

As much as I loved this project, I also kind of loathed it. There were only two characters so it should’ve been easy to find actors, right? WRONG! I found a couple that worked and ran with them. Day 1 of shooting arrived and we lost our actress. Then we lost another and another. Actress number 5 was the charm. I’m glad we ended up with Rosie, she blew the rest out of the water. It was just super stressful waiting to find an actress that would actually stick. Also, our actor wasn’t very good. He didn’t take direction very well and didn’t seem to understand the simple nuances of the script.

Regardless of the obstacles, we finished the film and I am very proud of the finished product. I’ll write another post once we post it on YouTube.
